Launch of (the proposal for) the RDM StackExchange
We are passionate about Research Data Mangament (RDM) and know how overwhelming and difficult it can be to get the right information, especially if you have a specific question or problem. Therefore we launched a proposal for an RDM StackExchange. StackExchange Communities are dedicated to a specific topic and provide a forum where you can ask and answer questions concerning the respective topic. Experts can also vote answers “up” or “down” so the most helpful content floats to the top and is easy to find. This allows to share and curate knowledge publicly but also make it available long-term. However, getting a StackExchange Community off the ground is a big endeavor for which we will need your help!
Why should this group be of interest to you?
- Collaborative Knowledge Exchange: The “Research Data Management” subgroup provides a platform for experts and enthusiasts to share their knowledge about best practices in research data management. Your contribution can help build a vibrant and knowledgeable community.
- Networking with Peers: Meet like-minded individuals from various disciplines interested in research data management on StackExchange. This platform allows you to expand your network and learn from others’ experiences.
- Influence RDM: By becoming a part of the “Research Data Management” subgroup, you have the opportunity to actively contribute to the development and improvement of the National Research Data Infrastructure. Your ideas and suggestions will help create an efficient and sustainable research data infrastructure for the future.
How does it work?
The RDM Community page starts in “area 51 – Stack Exchange Network staging zone” and certain criteria have to be fulfilled for it to become a proper page on Stack Exchange. To get out of the first stage we need:
- 5 followers within 3 days
- at least 60 followers in total
- activity at least once every couple of days
- 40 questions with each at least 10 net votes
How can you contribute?
- follow the community proposal
- vote questions up or down
- post questions
- spread the word
Any contribution is appreciated and will help to make the RDM StackExchange a permanent plattform for you!
